It is now the final leg and whilst the experience has been incredible, many of the crew will be starting to think about home and re-uniting with their friends and families.

Twinned with London, New York is the global hub of international commerce and industry. One of three ‘command centres’ for the world economy (with Hong Kong and London).  It will not be a restful pit stop but, for those who have never visited the Big Apple before, it will be a truly awesome experience.

Nova Scotia is a confirmed stop for the Clipper crews and provides a base for the shortest possible Atlantic crossing.  Nova Scotia is surrounded by the sea and this is a major influence on their climate. It is prone to tropical storms and hurricanes and is threatened by rising sea levels and coastal erosion.  Halifax is twinned with Halifax in the UK and whilst it has a largely resource base economy, fishing, mining, lumber and gas exploration also feature highly.

Cork was introduced as a stopover to Liverpool in 07-08 and is confirmed as a port of call for the 09-10 race.  From here it is likely that the Clipper fleet will seek one more port close to Hull so that there can be a spectacular dash to the finish line.  If the 07-08 race is anything to go by, there will still be a lot to race for.  The most likely destination at this point in time is Rotterdam which has traditionally hosted the start of the Wilberforce Race to Hull.

Finally it's home to Hull, where it all started 10 months ago.  The 09-10 race may be over but the crews will be greeted by many other crews from earlier races as well as potential crew for the 11-12 race.  They will be building up their own fitness and sailing skills ahead of another great adventure just 14 months away.  Leg 7 may comprise up to five races.  Leaving the Caribbean in May they could stop over in New York at the end of May and possibly Nova in early June.  With potential further stopovers in Cork and Rotterdam, the race is scheduled to end in Hull around 17 July 2010.
